I am a full-time studio ceramic artist living and working in Viroqua, Wisconsin. I make functional and sculptural clay art using stoneware and porcelain clay. I currently fire my work in an electric kiln to cone 9.
I make the art I do because I believe my art needs to be as much a part of keeping and containing as it is about giving and sharing, the very thing we as humans need to embrace. I hope my art will create these conversations, interactions, and celebrations in the everyday act of this giving and sharing . I can’t help but think that is what all artists strive for…
My hope is for the people who purchase my ceramic art to find a joyful personal relationship and association with the purpose and concept it was made for. In return they can then have it to be shared and seen as a part of their personal aesthetic of giving and sharing in a space that represents who they are as sharing loving individuals. I do believe that only then… does my art become true, beautiful, and complete when it has this dual relationship of the maker and the owner of the art work.
